Links The National Seashore was created by an act of Congress in 1961 to protect 26,000 acres For more information on this National Park treasure, please visit their website. "Is the tide coming in or going out?" tends to be a favorite question of visitors and residents alike. The ever changing atmosphere of Wellfleet is largely due to the change of the tides. The ebb and flow of fisherman, swimmers, beachcombers and hardy clam seekers vary in number depending on the tide. So to answer the never-ending question -- check the tide! Built in 1929, this 9-hole Bent grass course with water in play is a unique gem. A beautiful view of the bay can be seen from both sides of the course. Did someone say "Fore!". . . Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary Wellfleet Bay's 1,100 acres of salt marsh, sandy beach, pine woodland, freshwater pond, and rare heathland attract a wide array of wildlife, especially songbirds and shorebirds. Wellfleet comes alive for a two-day celebration of the town’s famous oysters, clams and shellfishing traditions in this street party that brings together locals and visitors alike for a weekend full of food, frolic, and fun. There is something for everyone: local cuisine, arts and crafts, kayak and road races, children’s activities, educational exhibits, walking tours, theatre, live music, and the Oyster Shuck-Off.
